Major event wins for Waste Services

Commercial waste and recycling collection company, Waste Services (UK), has just secured a five year contract with Beaulieu Enterprises and was appointed for a sixth year to support the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Elsewhere, the Southampton-based company - a subsidiary of The Verdant Group - has lately provided a full waste collection service, based on wheeled bins, a collection vehicle and a sweeper, for both the week-long Carmarthen Eisteddfod in west Wales and the Hitchin Festival in Hertfordshire.

The new contract for Beaulieu, the historic country setting for the National Motor Museum, Palace House and Abbey in the New Forest National Park, will see Waste Services providing wheeled waste and recycling collection bins - plus a full collection service with a dedicated vehicle and crew - at many of Beaulieu’s major public events.

This is the first time a focused recycling service has been provided for Beaulieu’s events.

Goodwood's annual Festival of Speed in late June usually draws well over 100,000 visitors, with a similar number attending the venue's sister event, the three-day Goodwood Revival, for which Waste Services has worked in the past.

For this year's Festival, the company supplied new wheeled bins and rear-end load containers, plus two collection vehicles with crews.

Up to 50 tonnes of waste, together with recyclables like glass, paper and cardboard, as well as surplus exhibitor stand materials, was collected overnight from the bins and containers and taken to an on-site assembly area for transfer to a materials sorting and disposal facility.
